Larry Thompson

Co-Owner of East West Consulting

Mr. Thompson brings 25 years of experience and leadership in the health care system to East West Consulting.  During his career, Mr. Thompson has both been involved in shaping public policy in health care and in fostering positive innovation in the health care system.

 In the 1970s Larry helped launch development of an HMO in the Eugene Oregon area and was involved in health planning and health policy assessment for the State of Washington.  Later, using area-wide health planning as a base, Mr. Thompson was active in developing the research and legislative basis for the Washington Basic Health Plan, the initial organization of the Health Care Purchaser's Association of Puget Sound, and early Kellog Foundation-funded worksite health promotion programs. 

During this time, he also consulted (National Health Care Financing) in China and South America, taught health planning for 10 years at the University of Washington, and served on a Congressional Blue Ribbon Panel reforming the Champus program.  During 10 years at Group Health Cooperative (GHC), Mr. Thompson was involved in provider contracting and development of GHC's payment policy; served as the business manager for one of the Coop's medical groups; and was the Administrator for GHC's network operations in Western Washington.

With East West Consulting since 1999, Mr. Thompson has been involved in a variety of projects.  He is the Executive Director of Washington Medical Group Alliance.  Additional clients have included several medical groups and hospitals, health plan and public planning organizations.

Mr. Thompson received his Master's Degree in Planning from the University of Oregon and his Bachelor's Degree from the Johns Hopkins University.

 

 

Mays Wong

Co-Owner of East West Consulting

Ms Wong brings more than 15 years of sales, marketing and administrative experience to East West Consulting.  Always with a sharp eye and keen ear for opportunity, Ms Wong first developed her marketing and administrative experience as one of the founding staff of Nautica Apparel Inc in 1983.  From the apparel industry, Ms Wong shifted her interest to the hospitality industry and received a Hotel Management degree from the elite Glion/Hosta school in Switzerland.  Ms Wong went on to administer marketing, sales, catering, and event management functions for several international hotel chains (Sheraton, Hyatt International, Radisson and Best Western).  Coming to East West Consulting in 2000, Ms Wong has now applied her administrative and marketing skills to the health care sector.  Her experience abroad and multi-cultural background also allows East West Consulting to position itself as a firm with insight to add to projects involving the Far East or Asian cultures.
